Job Details – PACU RN / Travel Nurse

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,050 - $2,160 (competitive travel RN pay)
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Travel RN contract)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts with variable start/stop times (07:00-19:00, 08:00-20:00, 09:00-21:00, 10:00-22:00, 11:00-23:00)
  • On-call: 1 call shift per month
  • Weekend Requirement: 1 weekend shift per month
  • Patient Ratio: Typically 2:1
  • Unit: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) – 16 beds, daily census ~40
  • Start / End Dates: April 27, 2026 – July 27, 2026
  • Charting / EMR: Epic (experience preferred)
  • Scrubs: Provided
  • Parking: Free

Qualifications – PACU RN / Registered Nurse

  • Minimum 1 year of recent PACU RN experience (Phase II and pediatric PACU experience preferred)
  • Active Alaska RN license required (pending license accepted for screening; license must be in hand for offer)
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • Experience with Epic charting preferred; perioperative or critical care experience a plus
  • Ability to work variable shifts, weekends, and on-call as scheduled
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from facility (no local candidates accepted)
  • Willingness to work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
  • Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years
  • Current Hepatitis B vaccination required

Responsibilities – Post Anesthesia Care Nurse

  • Provide high-quality post-anesthesia care to neonates, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Monitor and manage patients recovering from anesthesia, including pain assessment and opioid/PCA management
  • Perform arterial and central line management, dysrhythmia recognition, blood product administration, and ventilator care
  • Administer IV vasopressors, narcotic analgesics, reversal agents, and manage PCA pumps
  • Document and chart care accurately in Epic; follow sedation scales (RASS) and facility protocols
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: anesthesia, surgery, IV team, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, and social services
  • Participate in on-call and weekend coverage and adhere to malignant hyperthermia and pain management protocols
