Job Details

  • Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Telemetry Nurse
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940 – $2,040 (Travel RN pay)
  • Location: Columbus, OH 43210 — Columbus nursing jobs, Ohio
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 18, 2026 – August 17, 2026)
  • Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Setting: Acute care ortho trauma unit with Progressive Care Unit (PCU) patients — Trauma Level I exposure

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or telemetry RN experience
  • Valid RN license (compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • EPIC electronic charting system experience required
  • Telemetry experience required — strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition skills
  • Preferred: Previous charge experience and Trauma Level I experience
  • Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
  • Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leadership role)

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to adult and geriatric PCU patients with diagnoses including SBO, falls, lacerations, pneumonia, head injury, TBI, trauma, ileus, fistula, and fractures
  • Perform IV starts, medication administration, patient monitoring, labs, and patient education — core acute care nurse duties
  • Manage central lines, peripheral IVs, PICC lines, surgical drains, chest tubes, tracheostomies, wound care/wound VACs, and feeding tubes
  • Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, ABGs, and cardiac drips; function as a telemetry nurse when required
  • Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed and follow hospital emergency protocols
  • Float to different units within the organization as required, demonstrating flexibility as a travel RN
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services to coordinate patient care
  • Maintain isolation precautions, PPE protocols, and infection control standards
