PICU Registered Nurse – Travel Assignment in Tacoma, Washington

Job Details
- Position: PICU Registered Nurse
- Employment Type: Travel Nurse Assignment
- Setting: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), with primary focus on PCICU patients
- Location: Tacoma, WA 98405
- Start Date: 10/19/2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- Floating: May float to MedSurg, ED, NICU helping hand, or sitter support as needed
- EMR: Epic experience preferred
- Interview Process: Clinical interview and unit final review
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of PICU nursing experience
- At least 1 year of PCICU experience required
- Current RN license with Pediatric ICU specialty experience
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- Strong experience with pediatric cardiac, surgical, respiratory, neuro, and medical patients
- Comfort with ventilator and trach management, suctioning, tube care, central line care, and drip management
- Experience with aseptic technique, sterile procedures, and basic dressing changes
- Ability to work in a fast-paced pediatric critical care environment with strong time management and critical-thinking skills
- Epic familiarity preferred
- First-time travelers may be considered
- ECMO and peritoneal dialysis experience preferred, but not required
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to mixed PICU and PCICU patients with neuro, cardiac, respiratory, surgical, and medical needs
- Care for patients with congenital heart defects, post-op cardiac cases, post-cath patients, and other complex pediatric diagnoses
- Support respiratory patients including those requiring high-flow oxygen, CPAP, BiPAP, and trach care
- Manage central lines, peripheral IVs, foley catheters, chest tubes, NG/GJ/J tubes, epidurals, and PCA pumps
- Assist with lab draws, dressing changes, discharge preparation, and ongoing family-centered care
- Monitor and respond to changing patient conditions with excellent clinical judgment
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to deliver safe, compassionate, and efficient pediatric critical care
- Maintain professional standards while working rotating nights and supporting unit needs
