Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910 – $2,010
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Orientation: Bi-weekly, 36 hours
- Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents
- Unit: Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU) — cardiac ICU / pediatric critical care
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of PICU RN or pediatric ICU experience (critical care nursing experience preferred)
- Active NC RN license or Compact RN license in hand (must meet state requirements)
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Comfortable with patient ratios of 2:1 in PICU
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- One supervisory reference within the last year
- First-time travel nurses and local candidates within 75 miles are welcome to apply
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill pediatric cardiac patients in the PICU
- Monitor and manage complex cardiac and critical care devices including VADs, ECMO, and CRRT
- Administer medications and blood products; perform advanced procedures such as intubation, central line care, and arterial line management
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently using Epic (EHR)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: cardiology, CV surgery, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, PT/OT, and social services
- Maintain strict infection control practices and isolation precautions
- Respond to rapid response calls and pediatric early warning system events
- Float to other units as needed and participate in ongoing training and bi-weekly orientation modules
