Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) – York, Pennsylvania

Join a high-acuity Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) as a Travel Registered Nurse and provide specialized critical care to adult and geriatric patients in York, PA. This 13-week travel nursing contract offers the opportunity to work with a collaborative interdisciplinary team while caring for patients requiring advanced monitoring, ventilatory support, vasoactive medication management, and CRRT. Travel RN Job Details

• Location: York, Pennsylvania
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,950–$2,060
• Contract: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
• Shift Hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric surgical and critically ill patients
• Typical Patient Ratio: 2:1
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Work two of three designated major holiday periods when applicable
• Call: Not required
• Floating: May float to other intensive care units as needed

SICU Travel Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent SICU or comparable critical care nursing experience
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Pennsylvania
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications from AHA or ARC
• TNCC certification preferred
• Recent Epic charting experience required
• Strong experience caring for patients requiring mechanical ventilation, CRRT/CVVHD, continuous IV sedation, and vasoactive medication titration
• Experience with arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, blood products, dysrhythmia management, ABG interpretation, and isolation precautions
• Experience with complex surgical and trauma patients preferred
• Ability to care for patients with infectious conditions, including COVID-19, when assigned
• Successful completion of required pre-start education and competency modules

Critical Care Nursing Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill surgical and trauma patients in a 10-bed SICU
• Monitor and manage patients following complex procedures, including vascular, thoracic, abdominal, gynecologic oncology, and head and neck surgeries
• Care for patients with open abdomens, wound vacs, necrotizing fasciitis, multisystem organ dysfunction, and acute or chronic renal failure
• Manage ventilated patients and provide BiPAP/CPAP support as indicated
• Titrate vasoactive drips, continuous sedation, and emergency medications according to patient needs and clinical orders
• Perform ongoing assessment and management of arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, CRRT, and other critical care equipment
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and arterial blood gases and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer blood products and medications safely while maintaining accurate Epic documentation
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, IV services, rapid response teams, rehabilitation, social services, and other members of the care team
• Maintain a safe, organized, and supportive environment for patients and families while following infection prevention and hospital safety standards
