  • Unit: 30-bed telemetry unit caring for cardiac and neurologic patients, with potential overflow capacity
  • Patient Ratio: Approximately 4:1
  • Floating: PCU and Med/Surg, as needed
  • Documentation System: Meditech
  • Dress Code: Variable scrub color; no visible piercings

Telemetry Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in California
  • At least 1 year of recent telemetry or acute-care nursing experience
  • Strong EKG interpretation and cardiac rhythm analysis skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with IV starts and chest tube management
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications
  • Ability to care for cardiac and neurologic patients in a fast-paced hospital environment
  • Excellent communication, dependability, adaptability, and teamwork skills
  • Comfort with floating to PCU and Med/Surg units when needed

Telemetry RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to telemetry patients, including cardiac and neurologic populations
  • Continuously assess patients, interpret cardiac rhythms, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns appropriately
  • Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring patient responses
  • Initiate and maintain IV access and manage chest tubes according to clinical standards
  • Receive and stabilize patients following heart catheterization, pacemaker placement, ablation, Watchman procedures, valve repair, and cardioversion
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and ancillary departments to coordinate patient care
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Meditech
  • Promote patient safety, education, comfort, and timely discharge planning
  • Support unit operations and maintain flexibility when floating to PCU or Med/Surg
